Lindenhurst Honors Veterans on Memorial Day

Lindenhurst residents young and old came out along the annual Memorial Day parade route along Wellwood Avenue, hundreds applauding veterans that fought for this country's freedom on a sunny Monday morning.

The annual parade route reached the North Wellwood Avenue business district around 9:30 a.m. and continued with veterans, fire department members, school bands and boy and girl scout troops following down.

The village held its annual wreath laying at the monument on the intersection of Wellwood and Hoffman Avenues, including a five-gun salute, before continuing to Lindenhurst Village Hall for another ceremony.
