National Ice Cream Month May Help Residents Cool Off

Lindenhurst residents looking to cool off this July can raise a sundae cup in celebration during month designated to recognize ice cream.

July in Lindenhurst isn’t only beautiful, but also very hot – especially this week. But not to worry. Residents seeking a tasty way to cool off should know that July is also National Ice Cream Month.

This month was designated as such in 1984 by President Ronald Reagan in order to recognize the dairy treat that’s enjoyed by 90 percent of the population.

In the proclamation President Reagan called for all U.S. people to observe the month with "appropriate ceremonies and activities."
