Tips Designed to Keep Residents Safe in the Water
SC Legislator Horsley teams with LI Drowning Prevention Task Force to stress water safety.
As the summer kicks into high gear and Lindenhurst residents look to cool off in their pools and nearby bay and ocean beaches, Lindy-based Suffolk County Legislator has compiled a list of water safety tips.
Horsley recently hosted a press conference with members of the Long Island Drowning Prevention Task Force to stress the importance of water safety and show a shared commitment with both private interest groups and the Suffolk County Legislature on this issue, according to a recent press release.
As a result of his meeting, the same release containing the following tips for residents since approximately 10 people die from drowning each day in the United States:

- Learn CPR.
- Never swim alone.
- Make sure children have adult supervision when they’re swimming in backyard swimming pools and small kiddie pools.
- If you must leave, even for a second, take children with you.
- Install a pool alarm.
- When the pool isn’t in use, take toys out of the pool to remove temptation.
For additional residents can stop at Legislator Horlsey’s office or their local legislator’s office for a pamphlet about pool safety.
Water safety booklets will also be available for all park-goers at Long Island’s state parks this summer as a result of the efforts of Horsley and the LI Drowning Prevention Task Force.
