Lt. Ed Nelson Retires from Long Beach Fire Department
Honored by friends, family and colleagues at Sugo's.

Lt. Ed Nelson of Long Beach Fire Department retired after 16 years of service this week.
City Manager Charles Theofan, Lt. Mike Geller, other fellow active and retired members of the department and Nelson’s friends and family honored the firefighter at Sugo’s restaurant on March 14.
During his career with the LBFD, Nelson held the titles of executive officer of the department and UFA president.

Nelson was given a commemorative ring and plaque from department members, and Theofan presented him with a city proclamation stating that although a line-of-duty injury necessitated early retirement, he leaves with “recognition and appreciation from the entire Long Beach community.”
