March 15: City Council Meets, Irish Radio, Swim Lessons Sign-Up
Get the scoop on what's going on in Long Beach each weekday.

It's Tuesday and Long Beach has many activities going on today. Here's what you need to know:
1. The Long Beach City Council meets at 7 p.m. at City Hall at 1 W. Chester St. Among the many items on the agenda are the appointment of three Zoning Board trustees.
2. Long Beach radio personality Halftime Howie will devote his entire show “Broadcasting on the Beach,” aired from 8 to 9 p.m. on AM 1240 WGBB, to previewing the goings-on in Long Beach on St. Patrick’s Day. There will be Irish guests and entertainment including Irish singers, bagpipers and dancers from the Hagen School of Dance.

3. Registration for spring swim lessons begin at 7 a.m. at the Long Beach Recreation Department for residents and others currently enrolled in winter swim classes. Registration for non-residents begins on Mar. 18 at 7 a.m.
4. Science fairs! Long Beach has two of them today. The first fair is at East Elementary School from 6 to 7 p.m; the second fair at Long Beach Catholic Regional School starting at 7 p.m. Go check out all of the interesting projects the students at both schools are working on!

5. Speaking of East School, later on Patch we’ll have a story on the Board of Education’s latest discussion with residents about the fate of the oldest school in the district.
