The West Hempstead Historical Society's latest display can be viewed at the library and you can now connect with them on Facebook.

It's one of the most popular landmarks in West Hempstead, but what do you really know about Hall's Pond Park?

Well, if you venture over to the right now you can take a peak into the pond's past.

“The History of Hall’s Pond,” is the fourth and latest exhibit crafted by the West Hempstead Historical Society. It's part of an ongoing historical series featured on the wall between the library's Young Adult Collection and Videos.

This one describes the many ways that has been enjoyed by the local community over the years, from fishing, model boating and swimming to sledding, skating, bird feeding or simply strolling. It relates the history of the pond and its many previous names. Lastly, ithe display also recognizes Hall’s Pond Park as a place of memorials to many fallen heroes and as a place of new heroes, its volunteers.

If you have missed any of the three previous library displays, “Chestnut Street School,” “Railroads of West Hempstead,” or “What’s in a Name?…History,” you can now view them (in a slightly abreviated format) on the West Hempstead Historical Society's new Facebook page.
