Man Injured Multiple Officers While Resisting Arrest: Nassau Police

Police say the man punched a woman in the face in a laundromat the day before.

MASSAPEQUA, NY — A man assaulted multiple officers while resisting arrest, Nassau County police said.

According to police, officers were called to a laundromat in Massapequa on Monday after a 28-year-old woman was punched in the face by a man she did not know. She was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police say an investigation identified the man as James Garner, 38.

Garner was found in H. Garrick Williams Park, located on County Line Road in Massapequa, at 5:20 p.m. on Tuesday. Police say the officers tried to place Garner under arrest, but he resisted. Two detectives and a police officer were injured during the arrest, police said.

Garner and the police were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Garner is charged with resisting arrest and four counts of second-degree assault. He is scheduled to be arraigned later today in First District Court in Hempstead.
