1 Dead, 1 Injured When Golf Cart Collides With Car

The incident happened on Route 9 near Maple Lane South in Kinderhook.

KINDERHOOK, NY — A golf cart and a car collided causing one fatality in Columbia County.

The New York State Police said the collision happened Saturday on Route 9 in the town of Kinderhook.

Police said, around 8:40 p.m., troopers were sent to Route 9 near Maple Lane South in Kinderhook for a crash involving a car and a golf cart.

Valatie Rescue and Niverville Fire Department, who were first on the scene, were able to take the passenger of the golf cart, Henry Griffiths, 55, of Kinderhook, to Albany Medical Center with serious injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

The golf cart driver, Dopson A. Wynter, 60, of Kinderhook, was pronounced dead at the scene despite lifesaving measures from the emergency medical services.

An investigation found that the car, a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe, driving by Heather Graziosi, 40, of Livingston, was going south on Route 9.

Police said the Club Car golf cart entered the roadway from the west shoulder and collided with the Santa Fe.

The investigation remains ongoing.
