Albany Man Accused Of Having Illegal Drugs After Catskill Traffic Stop

Police said they found the man had crack-cocaine that was found in his pants.

CATSKILL, NY — An Albany man was accused of having illegal drugs after a traffic stop in Catskill.

The New York State Police said, around 5:45 a.m. Sunday, a trooper saw a 2010 Nissan Rogue traveling east on Route 23B in the village of Catskill that was in violation of state vehicle and traffic law.

After the car was stopped, the trooper found the driver only had a state learner’s permit and the passenger — Alonzo Lowe, 46, of Albany — had a suspended state driver’s license.

Police said, as a result, the vehicle had to be towed.

During an inventory search of the car, the trooper found a plastic baggie containing 312 grams of crack-cocaine, 204 grams of cocaine and 77 grams of an unknown powdery substance.

According to police, Lowe said the illegal drugs belonged to him.

He was also found to have 23.5 grams of additional crack-cocaine that was found in his pants, police said.

The driver was released with traffic citations, according to law enforcement.

Lowe was taken to the Catskill barracks where he was charged with the following felonies:

  • Third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, intent to sell
  • Third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
  • Second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
  • First-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance

Lowe was arraigned in the Town of Catskill Court and sent to the Greene County Jail due to previous felony convictions.
