Authorities Trying To Identify Child After Emergency At Frozen Creek

Anyone who knows of anyone who may have been in the area of the Esopus Creek and is overdue in returning home is asked to contact police.

ULSTER COUNTY, NY — Authorities are trying to identify a child connected to a massive rescue attempt at a frozen Ulster County creek.

The Ulster County Sheriff's Office, the City of Kingston Police Department, the Town of Ulster Police Department, the City of Kingston Fire Department, and the Ulster Hose Fire Department responded to what was described as water emergency scene on the Esopus Creek near Washington Avenue.

Police are requesting the public's assistance identifying a child connected to the emergency. Anyone with a family member or who knows of anyone who may have been in the area of the Esopus Creek and is overdue in returning home, is asked to contact police immediately.

Police did not release details about the exact nature of the water emergency at the frozen creek, but the public was asked to avoid the area surrounding the creek to allow emergency personnel to conduct operations.
