Flood Watch, Wind Advisory Issued For Parts Of Mid-Hudson Valley

Excessive runoff may result in flooding, and gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects.

MID-HUDSON VALLEY, NY — With a winter storm heading toward the mid-Hudson Valley, the National Weather Service has issued a watch and an advisory for parts of the region.

For Columbia, Ulster and Dutchess counties, there is a flood watch in effect from 7 a.m. Friday until 7 a.m. Saturday.

The flooding will be possible from rain and snowmelt.

Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks.

A wind advisory was issued for Dutchess County which is in effect from 1 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday.

Southeast winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are possible.

Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and some power outage may result.
