Middletown Woman Punches, Spits Blood At Troopers: Police
Police said the woman became aggressive when troopers tried to take another person into custody.
MIDDLETOWN, NY — A Middletown woman was accused of assaulting a state trooper in the early hours of New Year’s Day.
The New York State Police said, around 2:15 a.m. Sunday, troopers and members of the City of Middletown Police Department responded to Crescent place in Middletown for a report of a car trying to run over someone.
When they arrived, troopers saw an unconscious man on the ground, and they immediately began administering first aid.

Police said Katelyn A. Stevens, 36, of Middletown, told them the man on the ground tried to rob her.
While troopers were speaking with her, Middletown police were taking another person into custody.

As troopers assisted with that arrest, they said Stevens became “aggressive” and tried to stop the arrest.
She began yelling at the officers and troopers and physical punched a trooper in the face, police said.
She was restrained and was arrested.
After Stevens was arrested, police said she spit blood in the face of the arresting trooper.
She was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and obstruction of governmental administration, a misdemeanor.
Stevens was taken to Orange County Jail and held for pre-arraignment detention.
Authorities said the trooper was taken to Garnet Health Medical Center in Wallkill, where he was treated and released.
On Monday, Stevens was arraigned at the Orange County Jail and released on her own recognizance. She was ordered to appear in the City of Middletown Court Wednesday.
