Pedestrian Seriously Injured When Hit By Car on Route 44
The incident occurred Sunday near Adams Fairacre Farms on Dutchess Turnpike/Route 44.
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A 31-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured Sunday morning when he was struck by a car on Route 44 west of Cherry Hill Drive.
The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department said the incident happened around 7:30 a.m. Sunday.
The preliminary investigation found that the Poughkeepsie resident was hit by a Chevrolet Cruze being driven by a 69-year-old Poughkeepsie woman. Authorities said he sustained injuries that were considered life-threatening.

Route 44, which is also called Dutchess Turnpike, was shut down between Janet Drive, which the entrance to Canterbury Plaza, and the east entrance to Adams Fairacre Farms. The roadway was reopened shortly after noon.
The investigation is ongoing and the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department is asking any one who may have witnessed the crash to call 845-485-3680.

Poughkeepsie town police were assisted by the Arlington Fire Department, the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office and Mobile Life Support Services. The Traffic Enforcement Division was brought to the location to initiate a reconstruction analysis.
