President Biden Visit To Poughkeepsie Set For Thursday

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — President Joe Biden will be visiting IBM in Poughkeepsie Thursday to talk about jobs.

The president is scheduled to leave Washington, D.C., at 10:20 a.m. to arrive at Stewart Air National Guard Base in New Windsor at 11:40 a.m.

According to the White House, Biden will tour IBM beginning at 1:20 p.m. and, at 2 p.m., speak about “creating jobs in the Hudson Valley, lowering costs and ensuring the future is made in America.”

IBM is expected to announce a $20 billion multi-year investment in research, semiconductor manufacturing and more, the Poughkeepsie Journal reported.

Dutchess County Emergency Management said road closures and delays are expected during the presidential visit.

It said Route 9, between Marist College and IBM Road, in the area of IBM Poughkeepsie, including Spackenkill Road, will be affected by closings and delays between noon and 3 p.m. Thursday. Use of alternative routes during the time is advised.

Democratic bigwigs are expected to be joining Biden in his visit to Dutchess County, including New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney.

Biden will be in Poughkeepsie until around 3 p.m., after which he will travel to fundraising events in Red Bank, New Jersey, and New York City.
