Queens Man Drowns At Lake Taghkanic State Park
Witnesses told police that a man jumped from a boat and they did not see him surface.

GALLATIN, NY — A New York City man drowned Saturday at a state park in Columbia County.
The New York State Police said first responders were called to Lake Taghkanic State Park in the town of Gallatin for a report of a swimmer in distress.

After a four-hour search, members of the state police Underwater Recovery Team found the body of Juan P. Chauca Remachi, 24, of Flushing.
Authorities said there were no signs of criminal activity or foul play.

New York State Forest Rangers, Columbia County Sheriff's Office and several local fire departments assisted at the scene.
The Columbia County Coroner's Office also responded to the investigation, which remains ongoing.
