Ulster Resident Hits Man In Head With Hammer: Police

Police said the man is facing two felony charges.

OLIVEBRIDGE, NY — Police accused an Ulster County man of hitting another man in the head with a hammer.

The New York State Police said troopers were called, shortly before 5:30 p.m. Friday to a parking lot in the area of 22 Main St. in the town of Rochester for a report of a man on the ground bleeding from the head.

When troopers got there, the Kerhonkson EMS were already there treating the man who had a severe head wound.

Police said the man was conscious and said he was hit in the head with a hammer by Michael Latimore, 40, of Olivebridge.

The victim was flown to Albany Medical Center.

Shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday, troopers located and arrested Latimore at his home in the town of Olive.

The state police said he was charged with first-degree assault and murder: intention, both felonies.

Latimore was arraigned in the Town of Rochester Court and sent to the Ulster County Jail, with $25,000 bail, $50,000 bond or $300,000 partial bond.

A return court date was set for Jan. 4
