Anti-Muslim Attack In Midtown: NYPD Seeking Suspect

A man was punched in the face by an unknown male assailant yelling anti-Muslim slurs in Midtown on Monday night.

MIDTOWN, NY – A 25-year-old man was talking on the phone in front of 666 Fifth Avenue at about 9 p.m. on Monday night, police said.

The victim was approached by an unknown individual, who walked up to him and punched him in the face while yelling anti-Muslim slurs, according to police.

The address, between 52nd and 53rd Streets, is blocks away from St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and sits on one of Midtown’s busiest pedestrian corridors.

First responders transported the victim to NYU Langone Medical Center in stable condition.

The NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the incident.

Police described the assailant as male, with a light complexion and beard, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-8 inches tall, 160 pounds, and approximately 25 years old. He was last seen wearing a gray Hurley hat, black T-shirt, long tan shorts, and black sneakers.
