Commuter Slashed in the Face at Bryant Park Subway Station: NYPD

Police are looking for a heavy-set man who slashed a commuter at the Bryant Park stop on Thursday morning.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — The NYPD is looking for a heavy-set man who slashed a fellow commuter across the face and chest on a train at the Bryant Park-42nd Street station.

According to police, the incident occurred on a northbound D train at about 10:20 a.m. on Thursday. The two men got into a verbal argument with the suspect slashing the 38-year-old man. The NYPD recovered a razor blade from the subway car, a spokeswoman said.

The injured man was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition, police said.

The incident and police investigation caused a few subway disruptions Thursday morning, but service was restored before noon. Northbound B and D trains had been running on the C line from W 4 St-Wash Sq to 59 St-Columbus Circle.

Police are currently investigating what caused the incident. The NYPD said they were looking for a man, about 30 to 40 years old, 6-foot to 6-foot-5, about 230 pounds and last seen wearing a dark long-sleeve shirt and dark pants.
