Foot Chase Ends in Shattered Glass, Man in Custody: Police

Police caught a suspected counterfeit vendor after a foot chase in the middle of Midtown on Wednesday night.

MIDTOWN, NY – Police caught a suspected counterfeit vendor after a foot pursuit near the main branch of the New York Public Library on Wednesday night.

A 36-year-old male fled two police officers on foot at East 40th Street and Fifth Avenue at about 6:15 p.m, police said.

A chase ensued, and all three smashed into a glass storefront.

The man, who sustained minor injuries and refused medical attention, was apprehended, police said.

Two officers were taken to an area hospital, both safe.
