Japanese Ramen Restaurant Close To Opening In Midtown: Report

Ichiran's restaurants feature private dining areas called "Ramen Focus Booths."

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A ramen restaurant from Japan specializing in solo dining is set to open its second New York City location next week in Midtown Manhattan, according to reports.

Ichirian will begin serving up ramen at a 46-seat outpost at 132 W. 31st St., located between Sixth and Seventh avenues, on Wednesday, March 28, Eater New York first reported. The ramen chain is known for its unique "Ramen Focus Booths," where diners can enjoy time alone with their noodle soup.

The seating arrangement makes Ichiran a great place for solo dining, but less ideal for groups. Unlike the restaurant's Bushwick location, the Midtown Ichiran will not feature any communal dining, Eater New York reported.

Diners place their orders at Ichiran on detailed order slips, Eater New York reported. Everything about the dish is customizable, including the texture of the noodles, saltiness of the broth and toppings such as scallions and chashu pork. Diner pass completed order forms through a sliding door to a server, and minutes later the server returns with the ramen, Eater reported.

Ichiran's Bushwick location opened in 2016 and three more New York City locations are expected to open by 2020, Eater reported.
