NYPD Pulls Body Out of Hudson River Near 58th Street

Police are investigating how the man got in the water and how he died.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Police are investigating after they pulled a man's body out of the Hudson River Friday afternoon.

The NYPD responded to a 911 call of an unconscious man in the water off West 58th Street and 12th Avenue, nor far from the massive new VIA 57 West apartment development. Officers pulled the 33-year-old man out of the water, but he was unresponsive and unconscious. EMS workers pronounced the man dead after he was brought to Pier 98, police said.

An investigation into how he ended up in the water, and how he died, is being done by the medical examiner.

The man has not been identified pending family notification.
