Car Crash Leaves Two Children In Critical Condition

The children were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital.

Suffolk County officials report that two children were seriously injured in a car crash on Route 25 this morning around 6:35 a.m in Ridge, N.Y.

Lindsey Brown was driving a 2005 Suzuki on Randall Road with her two daughters when she turned on to Route 25 eastbound, according to the police report. She was then struck by a 2000 BMW driven by Mark Helupka, heading west, it says.

Both drivers are residents of Ridge. Brown and her daughters, who are ages 5 and 6, were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital. Brown was admitted with non-life threatening injuries, while the daughters, who were sitting in the back of the car, are reported to be in critical condition.

Helupka was not injured in the crash, according to police.
