  1. A mother of five from Commack was killed in a Hauppauge hit-and-run. Cherokee Fletcher, 28, was walking to 7-Eleven to get money so her oldest child could go on a field trip when she was struck on Motor Parkway while standing on the sidewalk. (News 12)
  2. Peconic Bay Medical Center was given a $5 million donation for a new 6,600-square-foot expansion of the hospital’s Emergency Services Department. There will be a new dual-bay trauma unit, additional cardiac response services, and a dedicated pediatric treatment area. (RiverheadLOCAL)
  3. The first residents moved into Fountaingate Gardens in Commack, an independent living community for people over 62 years old. Fountaingate Gardens is a $115 million 10-acre, 129-complex at 32 Hauppauge Road, first begun in 2020. (Patch)
