Dan's Papers explains that a local brewery in Riverhead, übergeek Brewing Co., has partnered with the New York Marine Rescue Center (NYMRC) to create a winter ale to supports the non-profit organization’s mission, helping sea turtles on the East End. NYMRC, at the Long Island Aquarium, will get $1 for every pour of the beer, called “i didn’t ask to be here." (Dan's Papers)
2. Denise Civiletti talks to the organizers of a Riverhead food pantry who say demand continues to be extremely high. Open Arms Care Center operates out of First Baptist Church on Northville Turnpike, and went from serving 968 households in 2019 to 3,109 in 2020 and 4,000 households in 2021 so far. (RiverheadLOCAL)
3. RiverheadLOCAL has the report on DWI arrests at Thanksgiving Eve sobriety checkpoints. Thomas D’Auria, 43, of Manorville, was arrested at the Roanoke Avenue checkpoint. (RiverheadLOCAL)
4. Patch has details on a fire in Patchogue that killed one woman. A fire broke out that damaged three apartments at a complex at 75 Rider Ave. Her identity has not been disclosed. (Patch)
5. Greater Long Island previews Port Jefferson's upcoming holiday parade. It starts this Sunday at 3 p.m., and parade-goers can stop by Barnum and West Broadway, where Santa will be in his workshop for free photos. (GreaterBayShore)
6. Sound Beach Civic Member Ernesteine Franco was honored for her longtime contributions to the Sound Beach community. She has been a member of the Sound Beach Civic Association since 1985 and serves as the liaison for the Civic and Rocky Point School District.
