Rocky Point Students Gifted With High Quality Innovative Tools
The district received a grant for more than $17,000 from the Workforce Development Institute to upgrade equipment.

Rocky Point High School was gifted with new equipment for the CTE tech classroom shared by Rocky Point High School and Rocky Point Middle School students. Technology education teacher John Schumacher welcomed administrators and two representatives, Dan Cullen and Robyn Fellrath, from Workforce Development Institute to have students demonstrate the tools and equipment.

The district received a grant for more than $17,000 from WDI to upgrade some of the equipment in the classroom including a drill press, new drills, a miter saw, a band saw and other woodworking tools. Schumacher encouraged his students to showcase their skills for Cullen and Fellrath, who observed the students using the new equipment.
Some of the unique projects the students shared were signage for the Rocky Perk coffee cart, the school’s colorful Upstander Tree, chess boards, American flags, wooden storage boxes and more.
