3. Patch has a story on late Longwood football player Darrius Jones, who has been posthumously chosen as a finalist in USA Football's "Heart of a Giant" contest for his spirit and teamsmanship. Jones died in a car accident at age 16 in September. (Patch)
4. Newsday explains that neighbors of popular fall attraction Harbes Family Vineyard in Mattituck allege the farm doesn't actually produce agricultural products.
