MINEOLA, NY — A protest took place on Long Island to coincide with the Earth Day festivities.

Dozens of environmental, labor and community leaders gathered on the steps of the Nassau County Legislature in support of offshore wind on Tuesday. Several union representatives were also part of the rally.

"We are calling on President Trump to rethink his position on offshore wind and allow this critical energy technology to be deployed across our nation to help us reduce air pollution, create new union jobs and create a more sustainable future," said Adrienne Esposito, Executive Director of Citizens Campaign for the Environment. "Clean air, creating jobs and reducing our carbon footprint in not a democrat or republican issue, it’s a human health issue.”
