Jericho Student, US Marines To Deliver Toys To Ukrainian Refugee Kids

One high school student is helping spearhead a program that will help thousands of Ukrainian refugee children, Nassau County officials say.

MINEOLA, NY — A 17-year-old student from Jericho is teaming up with Nassau County and U.S. Marines Toys for Tots to announce a new high school program to assist thousands of Ukrainian refugee children.

The program is expected to be unveiled Tuesday morning outside the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building in Mineola.

Jessica Vartanov, a student at Jericho High School, will also be announcing her plans to visit the Ukrainian border this week, with the goal of delivering hundreds of toys to Ukrainian children displaced by war.
