UNIONDALE, NY — Nassau County readers are among the most prolific ebook readers and audiobook listeners in the world, the Nassau Library System said.

The system, a consortium of 54 public libraries in the county, loaned a record-breaking 1.9 million digital titles last year, a spokesperson said. That places the county at number 24 in the world in digital book circulation, and fourth in New York State.

Nassau readers love thrillers, and the most popular book in 2022 in the digital system, the Nassau Digital Doorway, was "The Last Thing He Told Me' by Laura Dave.

Nassau Digital Doorway's ebooks and audiobooks are available on the library reading app Lippy, created by OverDrive. There are collections for all ages, and use of the digital system has grown each year, the Library System said.
