MINEOLA, NY — Nassau County's first Halloween-themed drive-in movie series is coming to Eisenhower Park in Westbury.

The series, dubbed "Scared in the Park After Dark," promises five spine-tingling nights under the stars with free screenings of cult classics and family favorites, such as "Psycho" and "Casper." The fun starts on Saturday, Oct. 16.

"With the overwhelming popularity of our summer drive-in movie series, I'm happy to keep this throw-back pastime alive with a new series sure to deliver chills," said County Executive Laura Curran. "Whether you're a horror movie fanatic or a family looking for a safe way to celebrate the Halloween season, you're in for a treat."

Showings are free to attend and will take place at Eisenhower Park's pop-up drive-in theater located at parking lot 6A, with space for up to 185 cars. Entry is first-come, first-serve. Food trucks will be onsite.

*At 5 p.m., before Casper begins, families can participate in a "Trunk or Treat" event by decorating the back of their cars for Halloween and providing candy for kids to "trick or treat" from car to car. Costumes are encouraged.


Additionally, the county will be hosting a free drive-in screening of Beetlejuice on Friday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m., as part of the Gold Coast International Film Festival. For information on all the virtual and in-person films and events at this year's festival, visit www.goldcoastfilmfestival.org.
