Nassau Officer Injured By Man Resisting Arrest: Police
A man who had open Nassau County warrants for his arrest was riding a bicycle when he fled officers who were trying to stop him, police say.

MINEOLA, NY — A man who resisted arrest, causing an injury to a police officer, was taken into custody early Wednesday, Nassau police said.
Officers were near Old Country Road and Willis Avenue when they saw Christopher Douso, 58, riding a bicycle around 12:05 a.m., police said. Douso, who is without a known address, was known to actively have open Nassau County Warrants for his arrest, police said.
Officers tried to arrest Douso, but he fled northbound on Willies Avenue and then turned Eastbound on Third Street, police said. When officers caught up to Douso, he resisted arrest, causing one officer to suffer minor injuries, police said. He was eventually placed under arrest without any further incident, police said. The injured officer was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, police said.

Douso was charged with second-degree assault, resisting arrest and second-degree obstructing governmental administration, police said.
His active warrants include charges of two counts of third-degree burglary, one count of third-degree criminal trespass, one count of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and two counts of trespassing, police said.

He is set to be arraigned on Wednesday at First District Court, at 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
