Small Biz Q and A: Body in Balance Celebrates Second Anniversary
Owners of combo yoga, pilates and zumba studio talk about goals for business.
Two years ago, the Zumba-centric fitness studioΒ βBody in Balanceβ opened its doors in Mineola atΒ 258 B Herricks Road. OwnersΒ Susan McGurn and Maria Ochakovsky-Gomez recently celebrated their two-year anniversary in the village of offeringΒ yoga, pilates, zumba and βtherapeutic medical massage.βΒ Β
What is your overall goal and mission statementΒ for the business?
To offer classes for all fitness levels in a non competitive environment and to teach people the healing art of yoga and pilates to all, regardless of their age or skill level.Β Our goal is to preserve the body long term and to teach a lifestyle that continues on and off theΒ yoga mat and translate it into everyday life. We offer a safe and nurturing learning environmentΒ which results in emotional, physical and spiritual growth. Classes include yoga, barre, pilatesΒ mat and apparatus. We offer private, semi private and group classes.
What is each of your backgrounds?
We are bothΒ owners and certified instructors, both have aΒ passion for health & fitness with many years experience teaching in the fitness industry. WeΒ bring their passion and enthusiasm to create a mind body experience for everyone. The yogaΒ and pilates styles they offer include Yoga Tune Up (therapeutic yoga), and Pilates through aΒ contemporary approach utilizing both small and large apparatus. In addition, the studio holdsΒ classes in barre.Β
What is one of your most fulfilling experiences/stories as a business owner?
Since we have been open for operation in the past 2 years we are fulfilled when our customers express the results they experience from the services we offer.Β We have a wide range of customers from very conditioned to post rehabilitation. The greatest reward is to see someone improve their quality of life when they are as fully committed as we are in helping them achieve their goals.
