Woman Critically Injured In Nassau Crash: Police

The woman was crossing the road when she was struck by a car, causing her to suffer head trauma, police say.

CARLE PLACE, NY — A woman was critically injured after she was hit by a car in Carle Place on Tuesday morning, Nassau police said.

A 43-year-old woman was walking across southbound Old Country Road at Zeckendorf Boulevard around 8:45 a.m. when she was struck by a 2016 Toyota Rav4 driven by a 73-year-old woman, police said. The driver had been heading north on Zeckendorf Boulevard when she turned westbound onto Old Country Road, police said.

The pedestrian suffered head trauma and was hospitalized in critical condition, police said.

The driver remained at scene. Police are investigating.
