Woman Set Deliberate Fire In Occupied East Williston House: Police

The woman set a fire on the roof while two other women, one 77 years old, were inside, police said.

WILLISTON PARK, NY — A woman deliberately set a fire on the roof of an East Williston home on Sunday while two other women were inside, Nassau County police said.

The fire, described as small, was out by the time police arrived at the Sherman Avenue home. Maria Garcia, 35, was arrested and charged with second-degree attempted arson and several misdemeanors.

Two other women were home when the fire was set, one aged 38 and one aged 77, police said. No one was injured and the house had no structural damage.
