67 Firearms Turned In At Spring Valley Gun Buyback Event

SPRING VALLEY, NY — A Community Gun Buyback event Thursday at St. Joseph’s Church netted 67 guns and a quantity of swords and other edged weapons, Rockland County Sheriff Louis Falco said.
The county Sheriff's Office co-hosted the event with the Spring Valley Police Department, the New York State Police and the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office.
The breakdown of firearms was:

- 4 Assault Rifles
- 29 Handguns
- 32 Rifles and Shotguns
- 2 Antique or non-working guns
People also turned in several swords and other edged weapons for destruction, police said.
"Gun violence continues to create a threat to public safety for the residents of Rockland County and our State," Falco said in a news release. “Last evening, working with our partners in Spring Valley and the State Police, along with the DA’s Office, we removed 67 firearms from our streets, guns that could have potentially been used in criminal and other violent acts. I will continue to partner with all of Rockland County law enforcement in our continuing efforts to keep the people of our County safe."
