Man Drowns At Haverstraw Beach State Park: State Police

The victim was found following an intensive search Wednesday evening, according to police.

HAVERSTRAW, NY — A man drowned at Haverstraw Beach State Park Wednesday, state police said.

Police have not yet released the victim’s identity, pending notification of next of kin.

Police announced they found the victim deceased in the water around 7:24 p.m. Wednesday. Emergency personnel had been alerted to a possible drowning victim about three hours prior.

Multiple agencies joined in an effort to find the man after he was last seen entering the water at the park, which is on Riverside Avenue, according to police.

The state police’s Underwater Recovery Team, New York State Parks Police, Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, and multiple local fire departments joined in the effort to find the victim, police said.
