Valley Cottage Man Gets Prison Term For Child Sex Abuse: DA

The victim was a 12-year-old girl, according to the district attorney's office.

VALLEY COTTAGE, NY — A local man was sentenced Tuesday to seven years in state prison for sexually abusing an adolescent girl.

Judge Rachel Tanguay imposed the sentence on Mauricio Sicha Torres, 36.

Torres pleaded guilty in February to first-degree sexual abuse.

After Torres serves his seven-year sentence, he will be on post-release supervision for another five years. He also will be required to register as a sex offender, according to Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II.

“Individuals who seriously harm and subject our children to sexual abuse will face justice in Rockland County,” Walsh said, in an announcement.

Prosecutors said the 12-year-old was sexually abused at a residence in Clarkstown between September 2023 and June 2024. The child disclosed the abuse in July 2024 to a family member, who contacted police.
