13-Year-Old Bicyclist Hit By Vehicle On Fishers Island: Police
The girl sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a Connecticut hospital, police say.
FISHERS ISLAND, NY — A 13-year-old girl was seriously injured after she was struck by a vehicle while on her bicycle on Fishers Island Tuesday, police said.
According to Southold Town police, the incident took place at 2:22 p.m. at the intersection of Crescent Avenue and Central Avenue. The girl was treated for her injuries at the scene by Fishers Island Rescue and transported via helicopter to a hospital in Connecticut for her sustained injuries;.
The bicyclist was listed in stable condition before she was released Wednesday, police said.

The young girl was just released from the hospital, so that’s good news.
The crash is still under investigation, but preliminary reports indicated that the girl was riding on Crescent Avenue and did not stop at the stop sign before heading onto Central Avenue, police said. The motorist was traveling on Central Avenue, police said.

Southold Town Police detectives and highway patrol units responded to Fishers Island to conduct an investigation and at the conclusion of that investigation, no criminality was found, police said.
