2 Charged With DWI After Crashing Into Separate Utility Police On Same Day On North Fork: Police

The 2 separate incidents took place Saturday, police say.

NORTH FORK, NY — Two separate motorists were arrested on the same day on the North Fork and charged with driving while intoxicated after crashing into utility poles, police said.

According to Southold Town police, at 3:18 a.m., Jose Primito Gonzalez Fuentes, 39, of Jamesport, was arrested on Main Road in Mattituck after striking a utility pole on the side of the road.

Gonzalez Fuentes was found to be the operator of the vehicle and upon further investigation, he was determined to be intoxicated, police said. Gonzalez Fuentes was arrested and during a search related to his arrest, a small clear plastic bag containing a white powdery substance was found in his back left pant's pocket, police said.

He was charged with DWI and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, among other vehicle and traffic law violations, transported to Southold Town police headquarters, processed and held for arraignment, police said.

At 5:06 a.m. on Saturday, on Route25 in Peconic, Anthony Vaudo, 53, of Cutchogue, was arrested; Vaudo was driving a 2023 Ford Bronco west on Route 25 when he left the roadway and collided with a utility pole, Southold Town police said.

He was found to be intoxicated, arrested and charged with DWI, then transported to police headquarters for processing and held for arraignment, police said.
