9/11 Services Held On North Fork To Remember Lives Lost

Every year, a solemn crowd gathers at Jean Cochran Park in Peconic to honor those who lost their lives on 9/11.

SOUTHOLD, NY — North Fork residents will gather Thursday to pay solemn tribute to those who lost their lives on 9/11, 24 years ago.

The Southold Town Fire Chiefs' Council will gather at Jean Cochran Park on Peconic Lane in Peconic Monday at 6 p.m. for the Southold Town Firefighters' Memorial and Remembrance Ceremony.
Mattituck, Cutchogue, Southold, Greenport, East Marion, Orient, Plum Island, Fishers Island, and Shelter Island Fire Departments, as well as NYPD, will gather to pay respect and to lay a wreath as in past years.

Also at 5 p.m. at Jean Cochran Park, the Southold 9/11 Memorial Committee will provide 2,977 flags to the public, to be placed throughout the park in memory of the souls lost on that dark day.
