Greenport Man Leads Cops on Chase, Busted for Possession, Intent to Sell Oxycodone: Police
Police said the man had 20 oxycodone pills packaged for sale and threw them under a pickup truck during the chase.

A Greenport man was cuffed Friday night after he led police on a chase and was found in possession of oxycodone packaged for sale, authorities said.
According to Southold Town Police, the incident took place Friday night at 10:04 p.m at the intersection of South and Fourth Streets in Greenport when the driver of the vehicle, a Greenport man, 20, was stopped for having a non-illuminated license plate and a non-functioning brake lamp.
Upon investigation, a strong odor of marijuana could be smelled emanating from the vehicle; the driver was found to be in possession of marijuana, police said.

The officer had the rear seat passenger, Christian Davis, 20, of Greenport, exit the vehicle, police said. When he exited the vehicle, Davis fled on foot , leading officers on a chase, police said.
During the pursuit, officers observed Davis throw what was discovered to be 20 oxycodone pills, packaged for sale, underneath a pick-up truck, police said.

Davis was apprehended a short time later and was charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, a felony, obstruction of governmental administration and unlawful possession of marijuana, police said.
Davis was transported to Soutold Town Police headquarters and held for morning arraignment, police said. The driver of the vehicle was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, and issued an appearance ticket, police said.
