Intoxicated Man Found, Car Running, In Driveway Of Woman He Didn't Know: Police

He had the lights and radio on at 4:05 a.m, police say.

LAUREL, NY — An intoxicated Riverhead man was found parked with his vehicle running in the Laurel driveway of a woman he didn't know, police said.

According to Southold Town police, the incident took place on July 25 at 4:05 a.m. at a home on Peconic Bay Boulevard. The woman notified police to report the unknown vehicle running with the lights on in her driveway, police said; Southold Town police responded.

Upon arrival, officers saw the vehicle was running with the lights and radio on, police said. Officers identified Jose A. Caal Jimenez, 23, as the driver by his New York State drivers' permit, police said.

Officers noted the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from Jimenez's breath, slurred speech, and bloodshot glassy eyes, police said. An open 24-oz. can of Four Loko Gold was found in the center console cupholder, and an empty 24-oz. Modelo can was found on the floor of the passenger side floor, police said.

Jimenez said he was driving to Starbucks and admitted to drinking, police said. Jimenez performed poorly on standardized field sobriety tests, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, processed, and held for arraignment, police said.
