Kait's Angels Gives Wings to 2 New Events, Aimed at Helping Others
A Yogurt Bowl will be held to benefit Danielle Harrison-Meraz, a Southold woman battling cancer. Next, a "Night of Zumba" for Kait's Angels.

With a new year unfolding, Kait’s Angels is poised to take flight with a new series of events organized to help keep Kaitlyn Doorhy’s beautiful legacy of helping others lives.
Kait’s Angels is an organization that performs acts of kindness in memory of Kaitlyn Doorhy, 20, of Mattituck who lost her life at 20 while away at college.
Members perform “Angel Acts,” working to pay Kait’s love of others forward by helping those in need or just brightening the lives of strangers with random acts of kindness. A mantra of the organization is “Discover Your Value,” urging individuals to follow Kait’s shining example and live a life dedicated to good works.

Coming up, two new events are planned: The Kait’s Angels Yogurt Bowl, with ice cream, frozen yogurt and a DJ, will be held on February 6 from 3 to 10 p.m. at Yogurt Expressions in Mattituck. The event features a free will donation, with all proceeds to benefit Danielle Harrison-Meraz, a Southold woman battling cancer. Yogurt Expressions is located at 13175 Main Road in Mattituck.
Next, a fundraiser for Kait’s Angels follows on Friday, February 12, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., as “Discover Your Value with a Night of Zumba” kicks off with Gianna Pino and other East End Zumba instructors.

The event will be held at the Mattituck High School gym. Tickets cost $20 in advance or $25 at the door, or $10 for kids under 16. To register online, go to www.kaitsangels.org. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
“Remember to wear pink, one of Kait’s favorite colors,” Kait’s mom Darla Doorhy said.
Since the organization was formed, Kait’s Angels has been spreading a message of love and positivity throughout the North Fork. Last year, Buddy Benches were dedicated in North Fork schools to help fight back against bullying and help give children a safe place to go when they need a friend. In addition, a yard sale fundraiser was held for Benjamin Pileski, a young Mattituck man who, now recovered, was critically injured after being hit by a taxi in Montauk on July 4 weekend.
