Man Charged With DWI After North Fork Crash Into Mini Bus: Police

2 people were hurt in the crash, police say.

CUTCHOGUE, NY — Two people were hurt in a mini-bus crash involving a drunk driver in Cutchogue last week, police said.

According to Southold Town police, the incident took place on July 16 at 5:25 p.m. at the intersection of Route 48 and Cox Lane. Iftar Kucuk, 32, of Greenport, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after the crash, police said.

Kucuk's vehicle struck the rear of the mini bus, which was stopped at the traffic light, police said.

Kucuk was found to be intoxicated, placed under arrest, transported to Southold Police headquarters for processing, and held for morning arraignment, police said.

The Cutchogue Fire Department responded and transported two patients who were hurt in the crash to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police said.
