Man Menaces Motorist With What Appears To Be A Firearm In Greenport: Police
A realistic looking BB handgun was located within the vehicle, police say.
NORTH FORK, NY — A man was arrested and charged with menacing Friday in Greenport after leaning out of his car with what appeared to be a firearm, police said.
According to Southold Town police, the incident took place at about 1:23 p.m. on County Route 48 in Greenport. A woman called police to say that while she was driving east on Route 48, she saw a vehicle swerving on the roadway.
After she honked her horn, she saw a man lean out of the right side of the car with what appeared to be a firearm, police said.

The vehicle was located and the passenger was arrested and charged with second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor, and taken back to police headquarters for processing, police said.

Police did not immediately provide the full name, age, or place of residence for the man arrested.
