Southold Town Clerk
Do you have a family? If so, please tell us about them.
I am married with two sons, my mother lives in Cutchogue.
Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective?
I am the incumbent Southold Town Clerk. I formerly held the position of town government liaison officer and worked for Suffolk County Department of public works.
Now we'd like to ask a few questions about your reasons for running and your general views on politics and government. First, why are you seeking this office?
In my time as clerk, I’ve made improvements such as having a bilingual staff, streamlining the FOIL process and upgrading the clerk website. I am seeking re-election because I want to continue to make changes like this that benefit the community.
What do you think can be done to help improve our infrastructure, highways, etc.? The town clerk does not deal with what is typically defined as infrastructure such as highway, but I plan to help assist the IT department in a total upgrade of our web infrastructure.
How would you plan to help local business owners, who are struggling because of high rents, inflation and labor shortages?
As a board member of the North Fork Chamber of Commerce I seek to continue to help business owners, as small businesses are the backbone of our community.
How are federal issues impacting local government?
The federal political climate has been very divisive. Here in Southold we’re fortunate to live in a community where neighbors still look out for one another. As town clerk I hope to continue fostering this loving environment for our community.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidate seeking this post?
I have spent many years working in multiple management roles both at the county and town level as well as the private sector. I know the needs of the community, and what the job entails, and I am prepared to lead the office for three more successful years.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
As the campaign comes to a close, I will continue to communicate with the community as I always have.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I’ve coordinated nearly $2 million in grants and projects, served as Director of the NYS Town Clerks Association, and worked on policies through the NY Association of Towns. I’ve also been a board member for various organizations, including the North Shore Sheltering Program and North Fork Mental Health Initiative, showing my ability to manage resources and address community needs effectively.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I am committed to serving our community. As a deacon and elder at Mattituck Presbyterian Church and a member of various local service organizations, I’ve been actively involved in improving lives. I also bring strong experience from both the non-profit and corporate sectors, managing teams with a focus on high satisfaction and positive results.
