Multiple Vehicles Placed Out Of Service During LIE, Southold Motor Carrier Inspections: PD
2 passenger-carrying and 17 property-carrying vehicles were placed out of service, officials say.
SOUTHOLD, NY — Multiple vehicles were placed out of service follow motor carrier inspections on the Long Island Expressway and in Southold Saturday, police said.
The Suffolk County Department's highway patrol bureau placed the vehicles out of service following two inspections, officials said.
"As part of the ongoing effort to ensure the safety of passenger carrying vehicles in Suffolk County, officers from the motor carrier safety section, in collaboration with the New York State Department of Transportation and the Southold Town Police Department, conducted multiple inspections," police said.

During inspections on the Long Island Expressway and in Southold Town, officers inspected 10 passenger-carrying vehicles and placed two of those out of service for non-compliance with federal and New York State Transportation requirements, police said.
One of those vehicles was towed for a suspended New York State registration, police said.

Additionally, 17 property-carrying commercial vehicles were inspected and six of those were placed out of services for federal or New York State transportation law violations, police said.
