Riverhead High School’s Jarell Gilliam Receives NYSCAME All-County Honors
Tenor Will Perform Alongside Other Top Vocalists
RIVERHEAD, NEW YORK—Riverhead High School junior Jarell Gilliam was recently named to the New York State Council of Administrators of Music Education (NYSCAME) All-County mixed choir. A tenor with an impressive vocal range, Jarell will join other outstanding Suffolk County student-vocalists for the NYSCAME concert in November.
“Jarell works incredibly hard and is always looking for ways to grow as a musician,” said Riverhead High School music teacher Leandra Wahlen. “He has a positive spirit and confidence that inspires his peers and me.”
Jarell is secretary of the Riverhead High School chamber choir, a performer in the Blue Masques theater program, and a devoted member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. He was selected to take part in the Suffolk County Music Educators’ Association East Division Three All-County Festival this past spring and has participated in New York State School Music Association festivals for several years.
