Wind Advisory In Effect Across Long Island Until Morning

LONG ISLAND, NY — Long Island is under a high wind advisory Wednesday night until Thursday morning, the National Weather Service said.

According to the NWS, the wind advisory is in effect from 9 p.m. until 8 a.m. Thursday. West winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour, with gusts up to 50 miles per hour, are expected, the NWS said.

Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result, the NWS said.

"Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. Secure outdoor objects," the NWS said.
