EAST NORTHPORT, NY — The Perles family raised $3,030 for the Northport Food Pantry at its 19th annual Halloween bake sale.

Each year, the family sells a plethora of baked goods outside its East Northport home with all proceeds going to the pantry, which was "so excited" about the donation, said Zoe Perles, who has participated in the bake sale since she was a child.

"Our community truly rallied behind us and we are so grateful to them," Perles told Patch.

The event started in 2005 when Zoe's older sister, Dylan, and her (ages 7 and 5 at the time) came up with the idea, Zoe, now 23, said.

The family raised $100 its first year. It has since grown into a massive community-wide event. The Perleses have raised more than $22K to date.

Two different community members showed up to the fundraiser to provide $100 donations, according to Zoe. Another neighbor donated homemade goodies for the family to sell.

"Every year, it is incredibly moving to see how much this event has come to mean to people and this year was no exception," Zoe said. "This fundraiser would not be possible without the constant generous support of our community so we would like to thank each and every person who stopped by or made a donation. And we would like to give a special shoutout to our wonderful friends and family members who put their lives on hold to help make this event possible: Susan Dowling, Ryan Dowling, Emily Goldman, Anita Brenner, Judy Makover, Jill Millmann, Alexis Persoff-Canfora, Emma Persoff-Canfora, and Ben Canfora. We hope to see you all next year for our 20th anniversary!"
